U.S. News & World Report has released its annual rankings for best children’s hospitals. In this edition, the ninth year of the list, a total of 83 hospitals were represented in the top 50 in at least one of 10 specialties including cancer, cardiology, diabetes and neonatology.
“The rankings were built from a lengthy clinical survey sent to selected hospitals and a reputational survey sent to pediatric specialists and sub specialists,” according to U.S. News.
Twelve of the 83 hospitals had high scores in at least three specialties and were named to the “Honor Roll” of U.S. children’s hospitals. The top five overall children’s hospitals are:
- Boston Children’s Hospital
- Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
- Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
- Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston
- Children’s Hospital Colorado, Aurora
Following are the top children’s hospitals by specialty:
Cancer: Dana-Farber Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center
Cardiology & Heart Surgery: Boston Children’s Hospital
Diabetes & Endocrinology: Boston Children’s Hospital
Gastroenterology & GI Surgery: Boston Children’s Hospital
Neonatology: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
Nephrology: Boston Children’s Hospital
Neurology & Neurosurgery: Boston Children’s Hospital
Orthopedics: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
Pulmonology: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
Urology: Boston Children’s Hospital
