Dear Rep. Vance, I am not a Certified Registered Nurse but, I respect all RN's. I look up to them and hold them in high regard. I am in agreement with HB 50. However, my comment does not hold any clout. I am a Registered Medical Assistant/Registered Phlebotomy Technician and a Clinical Office Laboratory Technician, hoping someday when I am finished school to be a MT with a BS degree & Biology. At this time I am and have been active with a certification agency(11yrs.) and I am on the state and national Board of Directors.. I sit on few committees one being Legislation. I am very much interested in legislation.. I have been working on Clarification for Medical Assistants and was very happy to see Commissioner Dorothy Childress answered my letter. We Registered Medical Assistants would like to know if we will ever have Clarification and someday even licensure? Recognition within the nursing association would be a great honor. Rep. Vance if you do not know who Medical Assistants are they are the multi-skilled professional who work for physicians, clinics, assist in the lab and some at hospitals. Commissioner Childress sent me all data; however, we are under the description of technicians. Registered Medical Assistants certified by The American Medical Technologists would consider it an honor to have Clarification in each state. I enjoyed reading your views on CRNPs ability to have prescriptive powers. Hat off to you! God Bless Respectfully, Linda Raven |
