| Think of a messenger as a mailman | ||

A messenger is someone who delivers you a packet of
information containing fee information for your practice along with terms of the contract.
This messenger answers questions. You may seek to have the messenger return upon practice
review of the package thereby negotiating financials/terms. The messenger does not reveal what position your competitors have taken. Nor can you discuss any feature of the proposal with your competitors. It is much like getting an unsolicited proposal through the mail. And you correspond back and forth until a go/no go determination has been reached. In this scenario the post office is the "messenger." The messenger cannot be a person that informs you of the behavior of the class. I should add that my experience with "messaging" comes from first hand experience several years ago when approached by a messenger from a PPO owned by my hospital. Several years later I was named in antitrust action filed by the Commonwealth and the Justice Department against me and the PO of which I am president. A lengthy joust occurred during which the PO almost became bankrupted due to legal fees. An amicable resolution was achieved. We remain in business, i.e. my practice as well as the PO. The blizzard of exchanges was an excellent education in the whys and wherefores of the messenger. Think of the messenger as a mailman. This person brings the message to you. Upon reading this mail, you may want to send back correspondence via this person. The mail is private, privileged and is not read by your neighbors. |
