Clinical nurse specialists are not new

By Shari Baron, MSN, RN, CS, CGP

Published October 1999

Regarding "Advancing the battle for nursing autonomy" - This is an excellent interview and I think accurate with one exception: Clinical Nurse Specialists are not "new."  In fact, I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatry and have maintained a private pschotherapy and consulting practice in that capacity since 1978.  I would be happy to answer any questions if someone would like more information about my specialty, education, CEU requirements, practice, etc.
