UNUM denial

By Linda Anderson

Published June 2001

I have just been denied disability payments from Unum in No. California. I worked for county government and they contracted with Unum. About 3 months ago, they decided to go back to contract with the CA State Disability. Employees will pay double premiums for a year before they can drop Unum and be eligible for State. I've lost my doctor and may have to file bankruptcy. Oh how I would love to be able to work!!!! I don't know what to do and after reading this site, it sounds like I'm screwed. I wish our county geniuses had checked out this company before contracting with them.
